Partnerships
Waterford Sports Partnership
We got in touch with the Waterford Sports Partnership in Term 3 last year to talk about updating our playground markings. A representative from the Partnership visited our school just before the summer holidays equipped with all the necessary materials and we were thrilled with the final results. They are being used daily during playtime and are a great way of encouraging active play.
Kilrossanty GAA Club
We are very to have a very supportive GAA club in Kilrossanty. Representatives from the club help with football/hurling training every year. Ger, Paudie and Séamie are all giving their time and expertise on a weekly basis and we are very grateful for that. The GAA club also sponsored our boys and girls teams with new footballs and a new First Aid kit this September as we began training for the new school year.

ACTIVE SCHOOL COMMITTEE
Pupils from 1st-6th class were invited to apply to be part of our Active Flag Committee at the start of October. There were so many fantastic applications. It was great to see such enthusiasm from the children in wanting to achieve a 4th Active Flag for our school. Our new committee members are: Caoimhe, Catríona, Jennie, Ollie, Ella, Brian, Oliver, Ava Mai, Colleen, Ronan, Alex, Carli and Jessica. Well done everyone!

Active School Slogan
We held a school wide competition in October in order to come up with a new Active Slogan for our school. There were some great ideas and posters produced and these are now displayed along our Active School noticeboard. Our overall winner was Emma in 4th class with the sloaan: ;'Go, go, go, Let's have some fun. Let's get active everyone!' Well done Emma!

Our school entered 2 teams in the inaugural Cumann na mBunscoil GAA and sports quiz in January. One of our teams came 1st in the quiz, beating 41 other teams. They will go forward to represent Waterford at the All Ireland Final in March.

We had coaches from both the Dungarvan Rugby Club and the Waterford GAA coming to the children in all classes in February. These sessions are a great way to create links between the school and different clubs and are a lovely addition to our physical activity programme.

Our playground leaders also began in February with a very willing and able 6th class ready to take part. They trained to learn the games and the teaching points and then went on a rota to play the games with children from infants - 1st class at small breaks.

Land PAWS: In partnership with Irish Water Safety.
We had Rosie from Irish Water Safety visit our school at the beginning of April to deliver a Land Paws educational day to our children from infants to 3rd class. Rosie spoke about the importance of water safety at home, at the beach/swimming pool/river etc. She taught the children how to be safe around water in various scenarios and brought them outside for a practical workshop using life buoys.
The children learned so much from Rosie and were delighted with their certificates at the end of the day.

We are very grateful to Kilrossanty Juvenille GAA club who sponsored our school with new sliotars and bibs in April in preparation for our upcoming GAA blitzes. The support they give the school is much appreciated.
